2019 has been an eventful year in the pro-life movement with multiple states coming forward with new laws that take away all rights of the unborn — even trying to take life after birth. This year’s Gala was created to educate guests on how to talk about the pro-life movement in our current culture.
On October 17, twenty folks from Ascension gathered at Lynnwood Convention Center for the annual fundraising gala of the Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) of Snohomish County. Some attendees were learning about the ministry for the first time, and others were getting updates and took the opportunity to become financial partners. It was encouraging to see so many hundreds in attendance from across the county.
The PRC is an area ministry to girls and women facing unplanned pregnancies that helps them choose life for their unborn baby in a culture that makes it easy to choose abortion. The evening included some exciting updates from Malora Forrey, the CEO, including a bold new set of STI/STD testing service offerings.
Planned Parenthood, the country’s largest chain of abortion clinics, has in recent years expanded into that same space as a strategic way of building relationships with females practicing promiscuity. The PRC also announced that they have been certified as an Ambulatory Health Clinic. It’s increasingly important for pregnancy centers to be fully accredited medical clinics.
The main speaker of the evening was Scott Klusendorf from Life Training Institute. His message was a very clear, practical, and helpful explanation of how to talk to friends and neighbors about abortion.
Peter & Karen Contreras were there for the first time. “The PRC gala was a real encouragement — hearing from PRC and keynote speaker Scott Klusendorf’s witness to people who consider choice the prime value,” said Peter. “I’m so glad PRC is offering a faithful alternative in a mother’s moment of choice. Everyone should read Scott’s 5 minute defense declaring the unborn is a distinct, living, and whole human being.”
